For german producer Caligo, beauty does not lie in chart-suitable productions with standard-arrangements and a predictable sound. In his cosmos, beauty is defined by a puristic-minimalistic sound coupled with dramaturgically rousing elements and nuances with a great attention to detail which lend expression to the uniqueness of his sound. His sample-driven Hip-Hop beats serve as contemporary documents, which – in an aesthetic way – tell stories about a certain moment or a specific development stage. Incorporating polyrhythmic african structures, arabic influences and self recorded instruments, Caligo manages to fuse his signature oldschool boombap sound with the world of today.
